Homework due by 9:00 AM, Sept. 13: Informal Analysis of "Reassigning Meaning" by Simi Linton
Write a brief (approximately 500 words or one page single spaced) informal analysis of the article. Frame your discussion around the rhetorical situation which includes issues of the author's purpose, the audience, the context, the text's genre, and the message. Use pgs. 55-57 in Blakesley to guide this analysis. You do not have to attend to every bullet point in the Blakesley text; instead, write about the points that seem most interesting and relevant to you. For example, you might choose to focus mostly on the author (Simi Linton) and the context (the disability rights movement and the formation of Disability Studies) and focus less on the audience or how the text is arranged.
This is an informal homework assignment which means that you can use a relaxed voice--try to find your "own" voice and to sound "natural" while at the same time using citations and a sophisticated academic voice when necessary.
